Friday March 29 was another good day to go to the beach. Mainly sunny and a high of 27C.
We took the train (just two stops to Bondi Junction) and then a bus to the famous Bondi Beach. When we got there, we went for brunch at Bills, a buzzy spot recommended to us by a few locals.

Inside Bills--- Sydneysiders (as they call themselves) love breakfast/brunch food |
|
Alain and I shared a "classic" breakfast-eggs, bacon, mushrooms, grilled tomato, fennel sausages and toasted sourdough bread. Yum! |
|
Bills is located under this very modern apartment/condo building not far from the beach |
We walked down to the beach. It is a fabulous surfing beach with lovely white sand. Going on a week day meant that it was not crowded. The water was warm and the clouds cleared away.

There are areas between flags where one cannot use surfboards and where most people swim |
|
Squinting in the sun--- water really nice-- currents are quite strong though |

Surfing part of the beach-- there were some young kids taking lessons |
We left the beach at around 5:00 p.m. and stopped for a gelato/sorbet at
Anita La mamma del gelato.
I had a refreshing watermelon mint sorbet and Alain had a chocolate, almond, caramel gelato.

We went back to the apartment for a brief rest and then headed out to eat at Enya, a Japanese "hole in the wall" restaurant which some people had recommended as a place where chefs went to eat. It was located about a three minute walk down the street from our apartment. We had made a reservation, which was necessary as the place was packed.
We sat at a table with two other couples and immediately the couple next to us started chatting. They were in their 40s- she was originally from Brisbane, but had lived in London for a few years, and her husband was originally from Vienna. They live in Sydney but travel a lot. They had been curious about the restaurant which they had often walked by and were eating at Enya for the first time. We had a great evening and a very good dinner. Prawn gyoza, a soft-shell crab salad, fried octopus and a tuna/avocado roll.

At Enya-- very small room-excellent food--lovely young couple ran the place. |
There was a menu, but additional items were posted on the walls.
Tuna avocado roll-- very fresh tuna
It was a lovely evening - the large window onto the street and the door were open. Our dining neighbours are sending recommendations for Brisbane. Just a three minute walk back to our apartment. A day of sun and food!
